Pretty Perfect Kitty-Corn by Shannon Hale, illustrated by LeUyen Pham

From the bestselling superstar duo Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham, creators of Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn, comes another positively delightful kitty and unicorn story that celebrates the magic of friendship—and the beauty of imperfection

Unicorn is perfect.
Everybody thinks so.
He years to look the way everyone thinks he should.

But when a fumble makes Unicorn feel like a big, ugly goof, he can’t help but wonder: If he’s not absolutely perfect and majestic all the time, will Kitty even want to be his best friend anymore?

The magical, bestselling team of Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham put their horns together once again for a heart-bursting story featuring an utterly adorable kitty-corn pair, showing readers that it’s okay to embrace our flaws and share the messy parts of ourselves.

Review

Pretty Kitty Corn and her best friend Unicorn are back and more splendid than ever. Unicorn is handsome and majestic and ready for Kitty to paint a masterpiece. Except … oh dear, he’s got paint on his heinie.

Unicorn worries that by being less than perfect, Kitty might not want to keep being his best friend.

Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham have teamed up again to show children that being imperfect is okay. Best friends accept the occasional “paint bum” so there’s no need to be stressed by it. In a world now dominated by peer pressure and the need to fit in, it’s nice to see a book that says “no, you don’t always have to be perfect to have a friend.”

I did notice that not all the lines rhyme but I still enjoyed the art and overall message. B
