Two stories in one graphic novel perfect for beginning readers, based on the bestselling STICK AND STONE series by Beth Ferry and Tom Lichtenheld. Go on a scavenger hunt, set out on a trip for ice cream, and even visit the beach with these lovable best buddies.
Join Stick and Stone as they get swept up in scavenger hunt. Accompany them to a campfire calamity. And laugh along with them in this new graphic novel series starring two best buddies and a whole cast of new characters. Each story has a fun activity to make you feel part of the action.
Besties Stick and Stone are back in two stories. In “Stick and Stone and the Nature Girl,” the two watch a girl guide on a nature scavenger hunt before being swept up in the excitement. But not, to their disbelief and slight indignation, as representations of the letter “S”! Young readers will see lots of things that are examples of different letters including the prickly Pinecone. A lesson at the end reminds everyone to take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, and keep nothing but memories.
The second story, “Stick and Stone and the Sticky Situation,” the friends makes wishes and then discover that you need to be careful what you wish for. I hate to say but this story is a bit disjointed and hard to follow.
While the first two books in the series focus on one major theme, these graphic novels don’t do that. I guess the idea was to use Stick and Stone in more advanced stories to match progressing reading levels of children who are already fans of the duo but this is not the book I’d start the series with. They are also, for the most part, missing the rhyming style I enjoyed so much in books 1 & 2.B-
